Kelsie Jo Thomas, CD(DONA)
Owned and operated by Kelsie Thomas, Transitions: Doula and Life Services is a doula service offered within the Sioux Falls community. After graduating magna cum laude from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Health Science, minors in biology and studio art, Kelsie trained to be a birth doula at the Simkin Center for Allied Birth Vocations at Bastyr University near Seattle, Washington. She is certified through DONA international, and has additional training through Spinning Babies, Stillbirthday and the Association of Placental Preparation Arts. Personal experience as a caregiver and patient, professional experience within a private-practice physical medicine and rehabilitation office, and formal education contributes to Kelsie’s unique and comprehensive understanding of the doula role.
Ensuring advocacy and offering continuous emotional and physical support as a member of your chosen labor support team, the doula role works to nurture, protect, and advocate for your values. Most beautifully, the doula holds space for the whole family. Taking great consideration for the partner’s needs as well, Kelsie works to support everyone through the transformation and birth of your newly-defined family. To date, she has worked with nearly 40 families. Kelsie believes that working to nurture and empower an individual through pregnancy and delivery allows for support and enhancement of the family unit. Being able to support individuals and families in this ways works to impact and cultivate a greater community.
DONA International upholds the highest standards for certified doulas, and you can rest assured that you will receive the highest level of support from a DONA certified doula!
